ANNISTON, Ala. — The Calhoun County Commission met in regular session Tuesday evening at the Calhoun County courthouse and approved the consent agenda by a vote of 5-0. The meeting began at 6 p.m. and concluded at 6:47 p.m.
The consent agenda included: a road paving contract for a portion of County Road 54, a budget amendment transferring $14,200 from the general fund to the equipment maintenance line, and a proclamation recognizing May as Emergency Services Appreciation Month.
These items, or items substantively identical to them, have appeared on the commission consent agenda in eleven of the last twelve monthly meetings. The one exception was August, when Emergency Services Appreciation Month was not applicable.
Commission Chairman Gerald Lyle called the meeting to order and asked if there were any modifications to the agenda. There were not. He asked if anyone wished to remove any item from consent for separate consideration. No one did.
The vote was unanimous. The motion was made by Commissioner Dale Whitfield. It was seconded by Commissioner Sandra Frost. The other three commissioners indicated approval by saying "aye."
Under new business, the commission received an update on the courthouse roof, which has a leak. The leak has been discussed at previous meetings. A contractor has been engaged. The contractor has not yet arrived.
Public comment was open for five minutes. No members of the public spoke. The item was closed.
Commissioner Whitfield moved to adjourn. It was seconded. The meeting ended at 6:47 p.m.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for the first Tuesday of June. The agenda has not yet been posted. Based on available evidence, this reporter anticipates it will include a road paving contract, a budget amendment, and a recognition of some month.
