OXFORD, Ala. — Larry the Cable Guy will perform at the Oxford Performing Arts Center on Saturday, November 8, as part of the center's 2026-27 performance season. Tickets go on sale Friday. A meet-and-greet package is available at an additional cost.
Larry the Cable Guy, born Daniel Lawrence Whitney in Pawnee City, Nebraska in 1963, is a comedian known for his Blue Collar Comedy Tour appearances and his role as Mater in the Pixar "Cars" film franchise. He has released six stand-up comedy albums. His 2003 recording "Lord, I Apologize" reached No. 1 on the Billboard Comedy Charts. It is out of print.
"We're really pleased to have him," said Karen Birdsong, Executive Director of the Oxford Performing Arts Center. "He has an appeal that crosses a lot of different audiences."
Birdsong said the booking fills a gap in the center's fall calendar and represents the first stand-up comedy performance at the venue this calendar year. She noted that the center had received requests for comedy programming from its subscriber base.
The Oxford Performing Arts Center opened in 2010 and seats 1,600. It has previously hosted the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, STOMP, and multiple Neil Berg tribute productions. Its largest ticketed audience to date was 1,588 for a 2019 Broadway touring production.
Larry the Cable Guy holds dual citizenship in comedy and in the automotive character space. He is 62. His signature phrase is "Git-R-Done." Its meaning in this context is clear.
Tickets range from $45 to $85. Parking at the Oxford Civic Center is free.
