Weaver to Host Inaugural Farmers Market on June 7

WEAVER, Ala. — The City of Weaver will host its inaugural farmers market on Saturday, June 7, at City Hall Park, from 8 a.m. to noon. Local produce, handmade goods, and prepared foods will be available. Vendors have been confirmed.

"This is something Weaver has needed for a long time," said Mayor Dale Pinson. "The community has really rallied behind this."

The Oxford Farmers Market, located approximately 4.2 miles west of Weaver on Alabama Highway 21, has operated continuously since 2012. It hosts more than 40 vendors weekly during peak season, including produce growers, baked goods vendors, artisan craft sellers, and a rotating selection of prepared food options. Its summer hours run from 7 a.m. to noon, Saturdays. Parking is available.

The Anniston Farmers Market operates on Thursdays at the intersection of 11th Street and Quintard Avenue. It has been in operation since 2009.

Weaver's market will operate on Saturdays.

The city has not announced a vendor application process for future markets beyond June 7, but organizers said they intend to make the market a recurring event pending the outcome of the inaugural session. Current vendor confirmations include four produce sellers and two craft vendors.

Weaver has a population of approximately 2,700. It incorporated in 1956. The city has not previously hosted a farmers market. Saturday, June 7, will be the first time.

Weaver is ready.
